The Function Of The Protein CD20

Antibodies directed against the protein CD20, which is expressed by immune cells known as B cells, are used to treat B cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and rheumatoid arthritis. Despite this, the function of CD20 has not been determined. Now, a team of researchers led by René van Lier, at the Academic Medical Center, The Netherlands, has determined that CD20 has a nonredundant role in generating optimal B cell immune responses by analyzing a patient lacking the protein.

The patient was referred to the Academic Medical Center at four years of age, with a history of intermittent respiratory infections and recurrent bronchopneumonia. Continue training!

Exercise of the Week: Reclined Hip Stretch

.Here it is folks, the last easy exercise for a while. Come the New Year we are going to be working out! And once we get going you are going to be very glad you know this hip stretch. It’s not hard, but it will give you a great stretch just at that part of the back of the hip that is so hard to get to. Do it.

Swine Influenza Daily Update: 24 December 2009, Wales

A daily update on swine flu issued by the National Public Health Service for Wales. Spread and extent of the outbreak (information as at 5pm on 23 December) The NPHS influenza surveillance scheme, which records reports of diagnoses of flu from more than 300 GP practices across Wales, shows that the rate of influenza consultation is decreasing. The report from 22 December estimates there were 22.0 cases of a flu-like illness diagnosed by GPs out of every 100,000 people in Wales - this is the equivalent of 660 people in Wales contacting their GPs in the last seven days with flu like symptoms. Continue training!
