Final Health Reform Bill Likely To Cover More Frequent Mammograms Than USPSTF Recommends

Under pressure from doctors, some women’s groups and imaging equipment makers, lawmakers are likely to require coverage for more mammograms in health reform legislation than is currently recommended by the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, the Wall Street Journal reports.

According to the Journal, many doctors’ and patients’ groups in recent years have formed alliances — such as sponsorships, joint events and endorsements — with companies that make mammography equipment.

Indiana University Study: Screening And Treating Girls Doesn’t Reduce Prevalence Of Chlamydia In Teens

Frequent testing and treatment of infection does not reduce the prevalence of chlamydia in urban teenage girls, according to a long term study by Indiana University School of Medicine researchers published in the January 1, 2024 issue of the Journal of Infectious Diseases.

Despite the fact they were screened every three months and treated when infected, the proportion of infected girls did not change over the course of the study. On entering the study, 10.9 percent of the young women were infected. After 18 months of participation, 10.6 percent were infected; 10.4 percent were infected at the four-year mark. When the Wii Pilates with Daisy Fuentes game first came out I wasn’t very impressed with it. In fact, I gave it a fairly negative review as did other About.com guides. But lately I’ve noticed interest in Wii Pilates building, again. So I thought I’d better ask you, dear reader: Did you get the Pilates Wii - for Christmas perhaps? If you have it, how do you like it? Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Completes ApoB SNALP Phase 1 Clinical Trial

Tekmira Pharmaceuticals Corporation (TSX:TKM) announced that it has concluded its ApoB SNALP Phase 1 human clinical trial. ApoB SNALP is designed to reduce the production of apolipoprotein B (ApoB), a protein produced in the liver that plays a central role in cholesterol metabolism.

Tekmira enrolled a total of 23 subjects in its Phase 1 clinical trial. Of the 23 subjects enrolled, 17 subjects received a single dose of ApoB SNALP at one of seven different dosing levels and six subjects received a placebo.

The primary endpoints of the ApoB SNALP Phase 1 clinical trial were measures of safety and tolerability. Continue training!
