Nicotine Levels Higher In Children Exposed To Secondhand Smoke In The Home

New research published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research, supports the World Health Initiative’s efforts for a home smoking ban, according to researchers at Johns Hopkins University.

Specifically, hair nicotine concentrations were higher in children exposed to secondhand smoke at home, and the younger the children, the higher the concentration under the same level of secondhand smoke exposure at home. Continue training!

Exercise of the Week: Pelvic Curl

This exercise is a nice stretch for the front of the hips and is a yummy warm up for the spine. It also engages the hamstrings, and if you do it right - with parallel legs - you will get your inner thighs working as well.

*When you practice this exercise, don’t make it all about the front-body, make it about getting support from underneath - from lengthening your back by sending your tailbone toward your knees, and from your hamstrings.

Everybody can try this one.

Pilates Home Exercise Equipment on a Budget

Ouch! Pilates equipment is expensive. I’m not talking about rings, balls, bands and the like. I’m talking about the big stuff: reformers, chairs, tower set-ups. But a lot of us want those pieces as home exercise equipment. We’re working out on them at the studio and we’re thinking how great it would be to follow up at home.

Well, a short trip around the internet is going to reveal that a studio grade reformer is going to cost you over $3,000.00, and the high quality portable home reformers are not a whole lot less.
